We are taught that the three elements of music are melody, harmony, and rhythm. However, this is incorrect because melody is formed by pitch and rhythm. In other words, rhythm can exist on its own, but if you remove rhythm, melody is nothing more than a series of notes. Therefore, music consists of two elements, namely melody and harmony, and melody consists of pitch and rhythm.
